The name Granny Cart Gangstas (GCG) derived from some of our founding members' pedestrian lifestyle in San Francisco; its ‘gangsta’ (a reappropriation of the word to connote high approval) to be able to use a ‘granny cart’ in the busy streets of San Francisco. We are an all-women-of-color comedy troupe. We poke fun at pervasive media representations of women, pop culture, and consumerism in our daily lives. The theater that gave birth to and nurtured GCG is called Bindlestiff Studio (the 'Stiff). All the members have taken at least one of the stand-up, sketch comedy, or acting workshops at the 'Stiff at one point or another. Each of us have our own particular skills whether it be in writing, filmmaking, acting, directing, makeup, etc. We aim to teach other these skills in order to excel in our selected form of artistry, but our one common indulgence is laughter.

MEnD Dance Theater Company is a group of performing artists whose aim is to transform lives by offering a humanizing experience through movement. Lead by choreographer Grace Alvarez, the group recently performed their critically acclaimed show “DIVE” at Bindlestiff Studio. DIVE is an exploration of mental health issues in the Filipino American community tackling theoretical effects, such as colonialism and imperialism, involving elements of theater, poetry, and music alongside the movement.

Barnali Ghosh and Anirvan Chatterjee are urban storytellers and activists from Berkeley, California. Ghosh is a landscape architect and transit/biking/walking advocate. Chatterjee is a bibliophile and tech nerd. Together, they curate the Berkeley South Asian Radical History Walking Tour, a popular monthly event that brings to life the secret histories of resistance and organizing by South Asian Americans in the city of Berkeley.

Hālau o Keikiali’i is a traditional Hawaiian Cultural Group based in San Francisco. Since 1994, our goal has been to educate the general public by learning about the Hawaiian people, the traditional customs, values and protocols. Our primary focus is hula kahiko (ancient dance), which includes oli (chant), mele (traditional songs), himeni (modern songs), nā mea hula (arts, crafts, implements), lole hula (hula attire), ‘ōlelo (language), and mo’olelo (stories). Following tradition, we share what we learn with different communities so that others too can benefit from a better understanding and appreciation of the old ways of Hawai’i.
